Ultrasound Preparation

Abdomen Ultrasound (kidneys, gallbladder, biliary ducts, liver, pancreas): Do not eat, drink, chew gum or smoke 8 hours prior to the exam. A small sip of water may be taken with essential medication.

Bladder/Renal Ultrasound: There are no food or medication restrictions. A full bladder is required. Therefore, ninety minutes prior to the exam, please drink 48 ounces of water over a 60-minute period of time.

Pelvic Ultrasound (Male/Female): There are no food or medication restrictions. A full bladder is required. Therefore, thirty minutes prior to the exam, please drink 24 ounces of water.

Other regions: No restrictions or specific preparation.

Personal items, such as jewelry should be left at home.

Please print, sign, and bring completed forms with you or you may complete forms online.

Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.

Bring your prescription and insurance card, photo ID, along with relevant studies/reports not done by PDC.

Dress comfortably, with loose, easy to remove clothing, should you have to change into a gown.
